Veterinary Student Externships

Apollo Veterinary is an open-concept practice, challenging the Veterinary Clinic norms. Our transparency is not only through the clinic’s open windows but also in how we communicate with our Clients.

Our externships are an invaluable part of any veterinary student’s course of study. Not all externships are created equally, however. At Apollo Vet, our externs get real-world, hands-on experience in running rooms and surgery.

We believe in learning to think like a doctor; you must be given the opportunity to be a doctor during vet school. Our externs have the opportunity to be the primary vet during an appointment. Through direct support of your veterinary nurse and managing lead vet, you will have the opportunity to run your own appointments, recommend diagnostics, interpret results, and build a treatment plan on your own.

At Apollo Veterinary, we see a variety of cases. We see annual wellness exams, routine sick appointments, and urgent/emergent cases on any given day. Our days are never the same, and we believe the multitude of appointments will help you feel more confident when going into your future practice.

We are very passionate about surgery and completely understand this can be a lacking skill learned in school. Our externs scrub into every procedure with a veterinarian and will eventually take the lead on procedures by the end of their externship. We perform most minor and major soft tissue surgery daily. For more complicated surgeries, we bring in a board-certified surgeon into the clinic and provide an amazing service for our patients.

Our staff works cohesively together, and we are very proud of the team we have built. Our practice runs smoothly, and we are very communicative with one another. We are looking for candidates who will work well within our team and look forward to each day at the clinic bringing new learning opportunities.

Our goal is for you to leave your externship feeling confident to begin your journey in Veterinary Medicine!
